Denton Metro Serra Club
The mission of the Serra Club is to foster and affirm vocations to the ordained priesthood and vowed religious life and, through this ministry, our members' common Catholic faith. Serra Club members are dedicated to fostering and promoting religious vocations and to furthering Catholicism by encouraging its members to fulfill their Christian vocations of service to the Church. SERRA provides an opportunity for Catholic men and women to: grow spiritually, continue their Catholic education, bring Christ to marketplace, and affirm religious vocations. Pope John Paul II asked Serrans throughout the world to be the "Vocation Arm of the Church." Your participation in this effort is vital to insure the future of our Church and the development of its religious and lay leaders

From one club, established in Seattle, Washington, by a group of four laymen in 1935, the Serra movement has grown to more than 735 clubs in 37 countries. Its name is in honor of the Blessed Junipero Serra, the 18th century Spanish Franciscan who spearheaded the evangelization of California. On May 3, 1951, Serra International was made part of the “Pontifical Work for Priestly Vocations within the Sacred Congregation for Seminaries and University Studies.”
The Vocation Awareness Program helps Catholic men and women find answers to questions they may have about life as a priest, sister, or brother. The VAP is sponsored annually by the Serra Clubs of the Dallas and Fort Worth Dioceses, in conjunction with the diocesan vocation offices. |
SERRA PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
O God. Who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather that he be converted and live, grant we beseech You, through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, Saint Joseph, her spouse, Blessed Junipero Serra, and all the saints, an increase of laborers for Your Church, fellow laborers with Christ to spend and consume themselves for souls, through the same Jesus Christ, Your son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.
PRAYER FOR THE PERSEVERANCE OF VOCATIONS
O God, You have constituted Your only-begotten Son supreme and eternal Priest for the glory of Your majesty and the salvation of mankind, grant that those whom He has chosen ministers and dispensers of His mysteries may be found faithful in fulfilling the ministry they have received.
